What to Look For When Buying Oil Absorbing Moisturizer

What causes someone to have too much oil production on their skin? Often simply genetic, however, more simply, it’s because the skin is perhaps wrongly assuming that the skin is dry when it might not be. While it might look wet, oily skin is typically crying out for hydration – causing the skin to try and compensate for it with sebum. That’s why oil absorbing moisturizer is needed.

There is one caveat that we need to mention, and it’s that you have to choose the right oil-controlling moisturizer. We attempt to help you in this regard by pointing out some of the ingredients you should be looking out for when buying yours.

The Oil Absorbing Moisturizer Ingredients You Need

Understanding how to take care of your oily skin is essential to the process, as it can literally mean the difference between looking great and looking shiny. So, let’s take a look at some of the oil-absorbing moisturizer ingredients you should focus on ensuring you get.

  • Caprylyl Glycol the first ingredient we think you shouldn’t miss out on is caprylyl glycol, which is what’s known as a humectant. What humectants do is draw in and retain moisture, as well as sealing it into the skin’s surface. Hydrators like this are great for giving the skin the hydration it requires for good health.
  • Bisabolol – another very useful ingredient for skin affected by excess sebum is bisabolol, which offers a range of benefits. It’s a great antioxidant, antibiotic, analgesic and even anti-inflammatory, as well as having the ability to help the skin’s molecules absorb essential hydration through the dermal layers.
  • Caffeine – coffee is useful for waking you up in the morning, right? Well, that’s not all it’s good for, as when it’s included in moisturizers, it protects the skin against those dreaded free radicals. This means you get protection against sagginess, fine lines, and wrinkles, as your collagen levels won’t be depleted.
  • Zinc Oxide – when you have acne, one of the main characteristics is redness and inflammation, and a great ingredient for eliminating this irritation is zinc oxide. It’s so gentle to the skin that you’ll often find it in nappy rash creams or those produced to treat burns or cuts. What’s more, it protects against the sun’s UV rays.

Of course, there are lots of other fancy-sounding ingredients in cosmetic products, such as Phenethyl Alcohol, and Polyhydroxystearic Acid, but if you go for something that includes all of the above, you’re pretty much guaranteed to get a great product.

Don’t Settle For Oil Absorbing Moisturizer That Offers Less

Not all oil-controlling products are created equally, and that’s because of what’s inside. Sometimes, the formula is not quite as well put together as it is with the biggest companies like PanOxyl. Let’s face it: products like these live and die by their results, and when all these ingredients are present, you get a super-potent weapon against persistent breakouts.

That’s why you shouldn’t settle for products that offer anything less than the main ingredients we’ve covered here. If you do, it’s only your skin that will suffer from lack of oil-controlling and hydration support.
